School PTA 1954-55 She worked nine years in the china department at Emery Bird Thayer Department Store until 1941 Adoline was a member of the Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church and the Church's Maryaid's Circle and a member of Cancer Action Inc She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 year Charles Weldon April 6 1988 an infant daughter Charlene 1940 three brothers Elvin Worthington 1914 Del Emory Worthington 1919 and Lawrence "Bub" Worthington 1998 two sisters Florence (Worthington) Beimer 1994 and Emogean (Worthington) Hill 1995 Surviving are a son and ANN TOBIN SCHMIDT Cleo Ann Schmidt I passed away in her sleep early Sunday morning February 9 2003 following a lengthy illness While her daughter and husband had frequent and lengthy visits it seemed like a miracle that she waited for her son to make one of his frequent trips from California before she gave in to death He held her hand and even though her eyes were closed and she speak she would squeeze it to let him know he was there for her Cleo Ann was born on October 16 1916 in Kansas City Following graduation from Redemptorist High School she wanted to be a teacher for young children but her father preferred she go to secretarial school so she could help out in his business during the Depression years at the Tobin Seed Company During this time she met her future husband Harley whom she married in 1940 She had many close friends only two of whom are alive today Mary Cates and Sr Blanche Tucker who was a classmate Her father Thomas Tobin and mother Cleo Mae preceded her in death as did her two brothers Jack and Tom Her husband Harley Schmidt survives her after nearly 63 years of devoted marriage daughter Ann Surdez Mission Hills and son Dennis Schmidt Fremont CA four also served in the US Army and was Honorably Discharged in March 1957 Nick was married to Mary Dunfee in June of 1952 Together they had three sons Charles III Richard and Robert The couple moved to Kansas City in 1953 Nick worked in sales for Celotex Corporation Upon leaving Celotex he bought into Contour Packaging Inc in 1959 He served as President and CEO from 1974-1995 He was one of the
